The seventh and last round match of the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy has ended. The quarterfinals are set. Karnataka ended the final day of the group stage with a bang with a historic chase. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is televising just 3 matches; that’s why InsideSport brings you the highlights of the last day of action.
Padikkal’s special hundred takes Karnataka across the line
Karnataka stole the second qualification spot from Saurashtra. Led by captain Devdutt Padikkal’s unbeaten 120 from 85 balls, Karnataka chased down 250 against Punjab in just 27.5 overs. With just one session left in the match, a result looked impossible, but Padikkal, with Mayank Agarwal‘s help, won the match. Madhya Pradesh have placed themselves on top with a victory over Maharashtra and will face Mumbai in the fourth quarterfinal.
Defending champions Vidarbha out
The race for the quarterfinals was the most intense in Group A. Jharkhand, Andhra, and Vidarbha were all vying for the top two spots. Andhra was held to a draw by Nagaland, while Jharkhand beat Odisha, and Vidarbha managed to defeat Uttar Pradesh. All finished with 31 points each. However, defending champions Vidarbha were knocked out, as Jharkhand and Andhra had superior bonus points and quotients.
No fuss in Groups C & D
Bengal had qualified for the quarterfinals in Group C. Haryana and Uttarakhand were in the running for second spot. Uttarakhand managed to beat Assam, but Haryana lost to Bengal and missed out. Jharkhand and Mumbai had already consolidated their spots in Group D and capped off with two draws.
