Iga Swiatek ready for the challenge –
- Swiatek has never been past the fourth round at the All England Club but the 21-year-old won the girls’ singles title in 2018.
- Swiatek will be the youngest top seed at Wimbledon since Caroline Wozniacki in 2011.
- Swiatek’s 35-match win streak is the longest streak of the century. She has won her past six tournaments.
- The clash against Pegula will be a key a battle provided she will have extended her unbeaten run to 39 matches by the time she reaches the quarterfinal stage.
Can Jessica Pegula upset the odds?-
- It’s been an impeccable year for Pegula so far, at the WTA 1000s and Slams this season, Pegula has made the quarterfinals or better at four of seven events, including quarterfinals at both the Australian Open and Roland Garros.
- Pegula only made it to the Top 10 of seeds since the French Open and will be determined to make a mark.
- While much talk has been about the other American star Serena Williams, Pegula has silently made her name.
- With last year’s champion Ashleigh Barty not in the draw, Pegula would be determined to make a name and this would be the perfect stage for her to shine.

Swiatek’s road to the potential final-
Iga Swiatek will face qualifier Jana Fett in the first round while Sonay Kartal, who is the home favourite will be her opponent in the second round. Alizé Cornet, who made it to the fourth round in 2014 will be Swiatek’s potential opponent in the third round.
2021 French Open singles champion Barbora Krejčíková will be another stumbling block for Swiatek as she will try to make the second week of the tournament. If Swiatek does manages to go all the way she will extend her run to 42 matches and clinch back-to-back Grand Slam titles.
Anett Kontaveit will be Swiatek’s oppoent in the final if all goes right for the No.1 seed.
The Wimbledon Championships 2022 will start on Monday, June 27.
