CSK have now joined the likes of Mumbai Indians to have the joint most successful team in the Indian Premier League. After their latest conquest, CSK has now gone on to level MI with 5 IPL Trophies under their belt.
Chennai Super Kings have always been a team to beat since the very first season. Under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, the Chennai outfits lifted their first trophy way back in 2010 and then went on to repeat it the next year in 2011. They then had to wait for 6 long years before Dhoni reclaimed the trophy in 2018. CSK once again showcased their class to lift it in 2021.
But after an all-time low of finishing 9th last season, the team came back strongly to go on and beat the defending champions Gujarat Titans in 2023 to lift the trophy for a fifth time.

“Every trophy is special, but what is special about IPL is every crunch game you need to be ready. That’s something we have done, there were lapses today, the bowling department didn’t work, but it was the batting department that took the pressure off them today. I do get frustrated, it is human but I try to step into their shoes, every individual deals with pressure differently. Ajinkya and a few others are experienced, so you don’t worry a lot about them,” said Dhoni after the game.
A fifty partnership by Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad and cameos from Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja helped Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeat Gujarat Titans (GT) in a final ball thriller by five wickets at Ahmedabad on Monday to clinch their fifth Indian Premier League (IPL) title.
