The FFF had to decide whether they would stick with Deschamps or let Zidane handle the reigns for the Les Blues. They decided to continue with Deschamps until the 2026 World Cup. Zidane has been out of a managerial role since 2021 after two successful stints with Real Madrid. Rumors had it that even Manchester United tried to lure him to Old Trafford, but it is an open secret that Zidane wants to coach the French National Team.

He continued, ‘I have never seen Zidane, we’ve never thought of separating ourselves from Didier Deschamps. That doesn’t correspond to anything. Some journalists need to change or invent because they don’t know what to write and prefer to say bad things than good things.’
The rant did not end here as he also spoke about how he would not pick up the phone if Zidane had called him. ‘Frankly, those who condemn in advance have never taken me out. Reacting to these statements, Mbappe did not shy away from showing his displeasure about how a legend was spoken about, by the President of the FFF. On Twitter, Mbappe tweeted the following, ‘Zidane is France, we don’t disrespect the legend like that…’
