A fight between Khamzat Chimaev and Colby Covington can determine the next title challenger. That said, Khamzat Chimaev believes that ‘Chaos’ Covington will be an easier opponent than Gilbert Burns. Speaking with ESPN MMA, ‘Borz’ outlined how Jorge Masvidal’s and Kamaru Usman’s successful moments against Colby Covington have inspired him.
Khamzat Chimaev said, “I think it will be much easier. Gilbert is like you know, hard fight with Gilbert [Burns] because he is like good in the ground as well. He is not bad in wrestling as well, but I could wrestle with him. I took him down easy”
Chimaev added, “Colby is not the same type of guy. Colby, I can take him down, I can knock him out. Usman dropped him, Masvidal dropped him. So why not me?”
Colby Covington defeated Jorge Masvidal but lost twice to Kamaru Usman. It remains to be seen whether Khamzat Chimaev can give him a tough time.
