Playing at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad, Patna Pirates faced defending champions Dabang Delhi in the final match of the Triple Panga Night on Saturday, 19th November. Dabang Delhi satrtedthe game on a positive note as they were leading 9-3 within the first 10 minutes. Patna Pirates had only three men on the mat and while Delhi was looking for an all-iut, Mohamadreza Shadloui put in a Super Tackle against Delhi’s Naveen to give his team two crucial points.
From then on, it was completely a battle between the Delhi raiders and Shadloui as the Iran defender put in one super tackle after other making life difficult for the opposition and uplifting his team. At the end of first-half Delhi led by a slender margin of 14-12 and out of the 12 points for Patna, eight points came from Shadloui’s Super Tackles.
Shadloui continued the same performance in the second-half. He only had Neeraj Kumar by his side but the Iranian ensured he didn’t let the Delhi raiders break his defence. He looked unstoppable as he put in four more super tackles and his performance helped Pirates to take a 21-19 lead. However, his brilliant run finally came to an end when while attempting a tackle, he stepped out of bounds.
Soon Patna Pirates were all-out as Delhi took a 23-21 lead. After that the Patna Pirates tried hard to reduce the deficit. However the Patna raiders with the absence of Sachin struugled to pick up points that forced Shadloui to go for raids. The Iranian even picked up three points but his valiant efforts didn’t prove to be enough in the end as as the three-time champions lost the contest 27-30.
The previous best tackle point tally in PKL history was Neeraj and Mohit Chhillar who both managed 11 points in a single game.
