The Microsoft corporation has announced the official delay of the much-anticipated reboot of the Fable title until February 2027. The news came from the Xbox company itself, saying that the extra time for development will be enough to give the title the attention it deserves at launch.
Although the game was originally supposed to be released in the late part of 2026, the title will now be launched a few months later. Despite potentially letting its audience down, this decision is thought to be beneficial for the RPG.
The 2026 Release Schedule is the reason behind the Fable Delay
As Xbox suggests, the second half of 2026 is already full of games’ launches. The future games that will likely come out within the same timeframe include Halo: Campaign Evolved, Gears of War: E-Day, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Control Resonant, and Star Wars: Galactic Racer.
Nevertheless, it seems like the most significant issue lies within Grand Theft Auto VI. The long-awaited blockbuster from Rockstar Games is set to premiere in November 2026, and it’s bound to make headlines, become the center of social media debate, and capture the gamers’ focus.
Some news in the industry claim Playground Games had reservations regarding the launch of Fable due to the proximity to GTA 6, since the RPG might simply fail to attract any attention at all in such a busy period.

Why the Delay Could Benefit Fable
By scheduling Fable for February 2027, the game is now provided with a much more defined launch window. Rather than having to compete with other holiday games, there is more room to draw attention to the new title.
The delay also allows for more time to prepare for its release. With a larger RPG, this added time can have considerable benefit in the launch of the game.
Despite the delay, fans will not have to wait long for new information. Xbox has confirmed that Fable will be featured during the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase on June 7.
