SRH vs RR, IPL 2026: Ishan-Praful-Sakib star as Hyderabad end Rajasthan's winning streak

Sunrisers Hyderabad jumped to 4th spot with the big 57-run win. But Rajasthan Royals retained the top spot with 8 points.

After two consecutive losses, Sunrisers Hyderabad return to winning ways. SRH end Rajasthan Royals' unbeaten streak with a 57-run win at home. They struggled in the powerplay with Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head both failing. But captain Ishan Kishan (91 off 44) and Heinrich Klaasen (40 off 26) ensured SRH recovered and posted 216/6. Then, two debutants, Praful Hinge (4/34) and Sakib Hussain (4/24) bowled exceptional spells to rock Rajasthan, who were bowled out for 159.

After rocking Rajasthan Royals with three wickets in his first six balls, debutant Praful Hinge finishes his spell with 4/34. Sakib and Praful combined bowled 8/58 in 8 overs. 

Debutant Praful Hinge bagged 4 wickets and now another debutant Sakib Hussain has bagged 4 wickets on debut. Ravi Bishnoi top-edged for a simple catch to Ishan Kishan. Sakib finishes his spell with 4/24. 

Sakib Hussain gets his third wicket as he removes Jofra Archer with a slower ball. Archer tried to sweep/scoop but got caught in two minds and gave away an easy catch to Praful Hinge.

Rajasthan Royals have lost two wickets in quick succession as Ravindra Jadeja pokes a short ball. The original decision was not out but as Hyderabad took the review, replays showed that he had a faint edge. Jadeja falls for 45. RR 129/7.

Sakib Hussain strikes for a second time as he cleans up Donovan Fereira to break the 118-run stand. Fereira departs for 69. RR 127/6 with 90 needed off 30.

Ravindra Jadeja and Donovan Ferreira bring up a 100-run stand. They have rescued RR from 9/5 to 109. But now, Jadeja needs to unleash as RR are way behind the asking rate of 15.9.

Donovan Fereira brings up his maiden half-century of IPL. He has been excellent so far and he will be the key to chasing down 217 for Rajasthan.

Halfway through and Rajasthan Royals have managed to score a modest 70/5. But they are still not in the game with 147 runs still needed off the last 60 balls.

Ravindra Jadeja and Donovan Fereira bring up their 50-run stand. Rajasthan Royals lost the powerplay and needed someone to step up. The two have done that. But it's still a long way to go as they need 158 runs more.

Rajasthan Royals are 9/5 as Praful Hinge strikes once again. This time, another hard length and as Riyan Parag tries to go after the delivery, he edges it to the keeper. RR 9/5 in 3.

After Praful Hinge, another debutant, Sakib Hussain from Bihar, strikes. He gets the big wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal, who tried to take him on short delivery outside off. SRH 2/4.

Vidarbha man Praful Hinge gets 3 wickets in his first over on debut as Lhuan-dre Pretorius also departs for a duck. Rajasthan have been rocked by Hinge as they are 1/3 in 1 over.

Sunrisers Hyderabad have found a gem in Praful Hinge. The debutant strikes again as he cleans up Dhruv Jurel. RR are 1/2.

It was supposed to be a Vaibhav Sooryavanshi vs Abhishek Sharma contest. Abhishek got a golden duck and now, Vaibhav has also been dismissed for a golden duck. Praful Hinge on his IPL debut bowls a short ball and as Vaibhav tries to go for a pull, top edges for an easy catch.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi begin 217-run chase for Rajasthan Royals. They have been excellent in the powerplay and that's where Rajasthan have won their games. Can Hyderabad stop the Sooryavanshi storm?

Sunrisers Hyderabad end up with 216/6 runs. They are some 10-15 runs short of what would be par. But it was Ishan Kishan who set the stage after Abhishek Sharma fell for a duck. Ishan smashed 44-ball 91, while Heinrich Klaasen scored 26-ball 40. Nitish Kumar Reddy also played a good cameo of 28 off 13, while Salil Arorar scored 13-ball 24.

Jofra Archer removes Nitish Reddy and the show is over. Archer bowled a short ball and Reddy edged it to the keeper. He departs for 28 of 13.

After quick wickets, Nitish Kumar Reddy takes charge, smashing Sandeep Sharma for two consecutive sixes, one over the mid-wicket and the other over long on. Sandeep ended up conceding 24 runs. SRH are now looking at 240+ total.

Sunrisers Hyderabad lose another set batter as Heinrich Klaasen departs. Tushar Deshpande bowled a delivery wide outside off stump and as Klaasen tried to take that on, he did not get elevation and gave an easy catch to Riyan Parag at the extra cover for 40.  SRH 162/4.

The break in the momentum costs Sunrisers Hyderabad and Ishan Kishan. Sandeep Sharma bowled a slower bouncer and as Ishan tried to pull, he gave away a top edge. Dhruv Jurel and Sandeep collided but the bowler managed to take the catch to dismiss Ishan for 91. The 88-run stand comes to an end as SRH lose their 3rd wicket for 143.

That could be a break in the momentum as one of the floodlights stops working at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen take a breather.

Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen have been relentless with runs coming thick and fast. Jofra Archer goes for 17 runs as SRH score 78 runs in the last five overs. Ishan also moves to 90s.

While Ishan Kishan has been the main aggressor, Heinrich Klaasen has joined the party. SRH have scored 67 runs in the last five overs to put their feet on the gas.

Ishan Kishan scores his second half-century of IPL 2026. His 19th IPL fifty comes off 30 deliveries and with a six against Ravi Bishnoi's delivery. Hyderabad score 89/2 in 10 overs. It's not going to be a run fest as the pitch report said.

Heinrich Klaasen joins Ishan Kishan. Klaasen has been consistent even though his strike rate has been questionable. SRH need him to score a big knock.

Travis Head's struggles end, and it's captain Riyan Parag who gets that big wicket. Head came down the track to take him on but had no timing and miscued the shot to Donovan Ferera for an easy catch. SRH 55/2.

From 6/1 in two overs, Travis Head and Ishan Kishan rescue the powerplay for Sunrisers Hyderabad. Ishan has been on the charge with Head still struggling to get going. The two brought up a 50-run stand, scoring 51 in the powerplay.

Ishan Kishan takes on Nandre Burger for an 88m six. A shortish delivery and Kishan pulled him for the a six, the first for Hyderabad today.

After 9 deliveries, Hyderabad have their firts boundary with Travis Head taking on Nandre Burger over the covers for a four.

Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag has won the toss and opted to bowl against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Daren Ganga and Faf du Plessis say the pitch is nice and hard, helpful for batters. If it's that good, expect over 450 runs in both innings combined.

In their only home game so far, Sunrisers Hyderabad lost both openers in the first three overs. Abhishek Sharma was the first to depart in the first over. If it's a slow or two-paced surface, all batters will struggle and powerplay will become even more important. SRH need their star batter to give them a good start.

Sunrisers Hyderabad have lost two consecutive matches and are struggling with their bowling combination. That SRH have not been able to defend 200+ totals is a testament to that fact. Brydon Carse hasn't featured yet but today, he could. Will that bolster SRH's bowling attack? That remains to be seen

Sunrisers Hyderabad have also relied heavily on Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen. Even Ishan Kishan has made valuable contributions. But barring Klaasen, no batter has been consistent, and that has troubled them. 

However, it’s their bowling that has let them down. With Pat Cummins yet to be fit and play, SRH have depended on Jaydev Unadkat, Harshal Patel, David Payne, and Eshan Malinga with little to no success. They lack a quality spin option and the vacuum has been too big to fill by Harsh Dubey. 

Rajasthan Royals are the only team in IPL 2026 to win all their matches so far. They have been dominant with an outstanding NRR of +2.055. Rajasthan are in such a strong position largely due to how they have batted in the powerplays. The early surge from Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal has seen RR score 74/0, 69/0, 89/2, and 97/1 in the first six overs in the last four matches. Dhruv Jurel, at No. 3, has also been in top form, scoring 176 runs in 4 matches at 181.44 strike rate. 

Add Ravi Bishnoi’s spin magic and pace attack from Jofra Archer and Nandre Burger, Rajasthan seemed to have everything under control. They are the side to watch out for under Riyan Parag’s captaincy. 

The pitch at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium is widely regarded as a batter’s paradise. It is flat, hard, and offers true bounce, allowing the ball to come nicely onto the bat. Short square boundaries and a quick outfield further aid scoring, often leading to totals above 200 being competitive (or even par). 

However, it hasn’t been the case of late. In the only match at this venue in IPL 2026, SRH struggled to post 156/9, while Lucknow Super Giants chased that down only in the last over with a ball to spare. If the same strip is used for today’s match, there will be no fireworks.

SRH hold a slight historical edge overall. In recent encounters (since 2020), SRH have dominated with a 6-4 record and have won the last four matches on the trot. The highest team total in these clashes is SRH’s 286 (IPL 2025), while RR’s best is 242. Key performers across meetings include Sanju Samson (high runs for RR in past) and explosive SRH batters.
