Batting a major struggle
It doesn’t happen too often that RCB batting unit fails to score quick runs. And when that happens, it has to be a bad pitch. On an unlikely Chinnaswamy wicket, except for Phil Salt (63 from 38), none of the other batters got going. Virat Kohli was out for 19, Padikkal 18, Tim David 26. The biggest disappointment was Jitesh Sharma, who got 14 from 20.
Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav were excellent with the ball, and had economy rates of 6 and 8 respectively. T Natarajan and Mukesh Kumar also played their part, to keep the scoring rate low.
Last over tactics cost RCB?
With 25 needed in the last two, RCB would have fancied their chances, but weren’t left with much bowling options. In the end, Romario Shepherd was tasked to finish the proceedings, but that could not happen. He was hammered for a couple of sixes by Miller, and the match was over. Earlier in the chase, Bhuvi picked up three wickets early, to push the opposition on the back foot. Krunal Pandya was good too with figures of 1/24.
