A convincing win at home on Tuesday almost sealed the deal for GT, as far as qualification for the playoffs in IPL 2026 is concerned. Not only they moved top of the points table, but also got to 16 points, a pre-requisite to move to the next round. Now they have 8 wins in 12 encounters. Sai Sudharsan (61), Washington Sundar (50), and Jason Holder (three wickets), brought the comfortable win for GT.
When will Gujarat Titans qualify for IPL 2026 Playoffs?
There is no force that can stop GT from qualifying. But it is a question of when. That should also happen quite soon. What remains to be seen though is, in what position will they qualify? NRR, points, everything looks sorted for them.
If GT win 1 match: That would take them to 18 points, which of course will take them to the next round, but might not be enough for them to go top 2.
If GT win 2 matches: They would be assured of a top 2 berth, that would give them an extra chance to qualify for the final; two qualifiers to be precise.
If GT lose both matches: In that case, they should still go through, but top 2 will be out of question.
GT hammer SRH at home
In what proved to be a wrong decision, Hyderabad won the toss and opted to bowl first. From the very start, it was visible that batting was going to be a big issue. Sai Sudharsan and Washington Sundar slammed fighting fifties to take the team to 168. Praful Hinge — 2/17, and Pat Cummins — 1/20 excellent for their bowling efforts.
Come the chase, SRH could not get any partnerships going. After Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head fell cheaply, there was no looking back. Apart from Holder’s three wickets, Rabada picked up three as well, While Prasidh Krishna bagged two.
