After India A tour of England, BCCI announces schedule for home series vs Australia & South Africa

The India A vs Australia A series will commence on September 16, while the series vs South Africa A will start on October 30.

The BCCI seems to be serious about developing the new string of Test players in India, and following the A series against England Lions in May-June, the board has announced the schedule for the A series’ vs Australia and South Africa. The multi-format action will begin with the Aussies, on September 16 in Lucknow, followed by the second FC match on September 23.

Post that, India A and Australia A will engage in three-match ODI series till October 5 in Kanpur. Soon after that, the South Africa A team will play their two Unofficial Tests at the Centre of Excellence from October 30, and after that three ODIs till 19th November.

Even tough the schedule is announced, but a call on the squad selection is yet to be taken. A call could be taken once the tour to England is completed, where a host of fresh faces have been included. For the unversed, the BCCI has announced an 18+2 squad for the England Lions series, which commences on May 30 in Canterbury.

Opener Abhimanyu Easwaran will be leading the team, while Dhruv Jurel would be his deputy. Earlier, Test captain Shubman Gill was also scheduled to join from the second clash, but now his name has been withdrawn.

India A squad: Abhimanyu Easwaran (C), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Karun Nair, Dhruv Jurel (VC) (WK), Nitish Kumar Reddy, Shardul Thakur, Ishan Kishan (WK), Manav Suthar, Tanush Kotian, Mukesh Kumar, Akash Deep, Harshit Rana, Anshul Kamboj, Khaleel Ahmed, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sarfaraz Khan, Tushar Deshpande, Harsh Dubey.

From 2nd Match: Sai Sudharsan.
