National record holder in long jump, Aldrin fails miserably at World Indoor Athletics C’ships

World Indoor Athletics Championships: Jeswin Aldrin is the current national record holder in long jump at 8.42m, but has been in poor form in 2024.

In what turned out to be a poor outing for national record holder in long jump, Jeswin Aldrin at the World Indoor Athletics Championships on Sunday, he ended a disappointing 13th. With a best effort of 7.69m, the Indian was way off his best in Glasgow.

Aldrin, who had leapt 8.42m in 2023 was a world leader last year, failed to even get past the 8m mark. He started with the 7.69m jump itself in the competition, but couldn’t better his effort after that. In fact, the next two jumps were fouls. This year, in 2024 Aldrin has been struggling to find his rhythm, and has managed best efforts of 7.70m, 7.74m, and 7.83m, in his last three competitions.
