There might be a new contender for Bron Breakker’s “NXT” Title.
Last night Bron was able to retain his status as the NXT Men’s Champion as he SPEAR-ed his way to defeat challenger Von Wagner. But, his victory seemed short-lived as later, during a backstage segment, Apollo Crews addressed Breakker and explained why he returned to “NXT.”
“I can’t wait to make history with you(Breakker), but until then, you’ll see me around“, said Apollo during a promo upon his return to NXT in June. [H/T – wrestlinginc]
Since his return Crews has been on a journey to prove that he is a top Title contender and he did so by defeating J.D. McDonagh. in last night’s matchup. Breakker seemingly went to the ringside after the contest and glared at Crews. This action from Bron has intrigued fans to think that he is ready to accept Apollo’s challenge.
Breakker has faced McDonagh twice in “NXT” title matches. The last time was at Halloween Havoc, where in a three-way bout, Breakker not only defeated McDonagh but also Ilja Dragunov. This simply shows that Breakker is a far tougher opponent than anyone Apollo’s faced till now and openly challenging him for a Title Challenge could be a make-or-break situation for him.
It’s yet to be seen how NXT will host both of these superstars in a Title Match. But one thing is for sure, whenever it happens it’s going to be a treat to watch…
