Former Coach mentioned in his new book that when he started out, Pant wouldn’t take any of his inputs and suggestions on wicketkeeping. Sridhar has given a detailed account of the time he has spent with players. About Rishabh Pant he wrote, “There were some inputs he was little reluctant to take. Because he trusted the game that had brought him to this level. Sometimes, I must confess, it drove me nuts, his stubbornness.”
He further added, “But getting angry or frustrated wasn’t going to help anyone. I had to find a way to get Rishabh to try and do different things, if only for him to figure out if those changes might actually be beneficial to his keeping.”

The 52-year-old went on to add that Pant himself understood that he needed to ask for advice rather than repeating the processes that had worked for him till now.
“After a while he walked up to me and said ‘Sir, you aren’t saying anything. Please tell me what to do. Smiling inwardly, I said ‘Maybe you should lead with your head and not with your hands,” said Sridhar.
Early in his career, Pant was criticized for not being able to keep wickets properly in turning conditions at home. But over the past couple of years, Rishabh Pant has become an integral member of the Indian cricket team. Courtesy not just of his heroic batting performance in overseas conditions but also of his wicketkeeping skills.
