IPL 2023 auctions: Players Gujarat Titans are likely to target for next season
Reece Topley
The England pacer due to his great height can trouble the players with the bounce. Topley has the tendency to swing the ball in the initial which could trouble the batman. Besides bowling in powerplay, Topley can nail Yorkers during the death overs. With Dushmantha Chameera proving to be ineffective last season, the 28-year-old brings complete package with the ball. LSG could show interest in signing him during IPL 2023 auction.
Mayank Agarwal
The former Punjab Kings skipper was released by the franchisee ahead of the IPL 2023 auction. Agarwal is a proven batter in the IPL and his experience at the top will certainly come in handy. If LSG decides to sign Agarwal, he will be reunited with his friend and former teammate KL Rahul.. However Agarwal is unlikely to get regular start if signed by the franchise. With Quinton de Kock opening the innings with Rahul, Mayank’s will have to bat at number three if picked in the 11. With Harry Brook also in Set 1 it remains to be seen if LSG decides to try and sign him.
Dasun Shanaka
The Sri Lankan skipper has never graced the IPL stage despite being a consistent performer on the international stage. The Sri Lanka skipper is a utility player who can not only bowl overs but can also finish the matches with the bat. He will be available at a lower price compared to the other options allowing LSG to try and make major signings.
IPL Auction 2023 – Key details
- The auction is scheduled for December 23 in Kochi.
- The purse value of all teams has been increased by 5 crores, making a total of INR 95 crores for each team.
- Out of their total purse value, the franchises need to spend a minimum of 75% during the auction event.
- Earlier, from a list of 991 players, a total of 369 players from 10 teams were shortlisted. However, 36 additional players were added to the final list on request of the teams, making a total of 405 players to be presented at the IPL auction.
- Out of 405 players, 273 are Indian cricketers, and 132 are overseas, including four from associate nations.
- The total capped players are 119, uncapped players are 282 and 4 from associate nations.
- A maximum of 87 slots are now available, with up to 30 being allocated for overseas players.
- The auction will start at 14:30 IST.
