Suresh Raina, bought Sam Curran for a whopping Rs 19.5 crore during the IPL 2023 mock auction. Raina while speaking on Jio Cinema said, “CSK really want him in their set-up because he has done really well in the World Cup. He has got great leadership qualities as well. CSK can look for a captain in him in the future.”
He also added, “Chennai wickets will definitely suit his bowling. A lot of variation and when you are playing home games, he is going to be very useful.”
Last season CSK had handed over the captaincy to Ravindra Jadeja but following a poor start to the campaign, the all-rounder stepped down, with Dhoni once again coming back to the helm.

Sam Curran, will be entering the IPL 2023 auction with a base price of Rs 2 crore. He is hoping to land a good deal at this year’s auction following his exploits on the international stage. With the all-rounder spot vacant at CSK, the Yellow brigade will look to land the England all-rounder at all costs.
Speaking ahead of the auction, Curran said, “I’ve been in previous auctions (as well); you go in with your base price. I’ll be watching (the auction) on TV. On Friday morning, I guess, when your name comes up, you just say ‘keep the paddle up there”.
He added, “Firstly you’ve got to get picked. I’ve got, obviously, hope that I’ll go somewhere. But I guess that’s one of those things (that) I’m in the same bracket as (Ben) Stokes and a few other all-rounders, who have come out and I guess they work in sets. So, anything can happen.”
