Chance for Venkatesh Iyer and Avesh Khan to shine: A new-look India will be led by the newly appointed T20I skipper Rohit Sharma and will be looking to level the scores with Kiwis. The IPL 2021 stars Venkatesh Iyer, Harshal Patel, and Avesh Khan are likely to make their debut in the series as many big names such as Virat Kohli, M Shami, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja have been rested.

No Williamson, Southee to lead the side: New Zealand, on the opposite, will be gutted after losing the T20 World Cup Final 2021 against Australia on Sunday. The Kiwis will be led by Tim Southee in the opening fixture as Kane Williamson has decided to skip the series to prepare for the 2 Test matches series. New Zealand will be eying to compensate it with a good outing against India in the series and also test their bench strength, giving rest to some of their regulars.
