PUBG: Blindspot, the 5v5 top-down tactical shooter in the famous PUBG universe, has now been shut down officially. The game’s developer, Arc Team, and publisher Krafton decided to pull the plug on the game on March 30, 2026, only 54 days after its Steam Early Access release on February 5, 2026. The game’s servers have now been shut down permanently, even though it is set in the famous PUBG universe, before it even reached version 1.0.
PUBG Blindspot Shuts Down Due to The Player Count Collapse
PUBG Blindspot shut down because of quality issues. In fact, this game had a “Mostly Positive” rating on Steam, and there were more than 1,000 reviews. The problem was a catastrophic drop in player numbers.
The game started out well, reaching an all-time peak of 3,200 players, but the number of players within a 24-hour peak fell to a mere 325 before the shutdown. This led to a multiplayer death spiral, as matchmaking was slow, causing players to get impatient and leave the game.

Brand Mismatch and Weak Marketing are to Blame
Why didn’t players stick around? Well, for one, the game did not stick to the traditional battle royale genre. Instead, it tried to go for a top-down tactical game. It did not appeal to the traditional PUBG player and could not compete against traditional tactical game titans like Valorant, CS, or Rainbow Six.
Another reason why the game did not stick around was that it had absolutely terrible marketing. In fact, most gamers out there have never even heard of this game until it got canceled.
For those who don’t know, Krafton is now actively working on PUBG: Black Budget, an upcoming extraction shooter, showing exactly where they believe the real future of the franchise lies.
