Eventually, pacer Praisdh Krishna had replaced Akash Deep, who bowled well in the series, without much luck. In two matches, he could only pick up five wickets, at an average of 54. During the IND vs AUS series, it was Akash Deep, who had replaced a struggling Harshit Rana in the third Test at Brisbane, and went on to play in Melbourne as well. Bowler to Miss Vijay Hazare Trophy Knockouts
Meanwhile, there is no clarity, if the pacer would be able to participate in the second phase of the Ranji Trophy, that is scheduled to restart from Jan 23 — with two matches remaining for Bengal. They are slated to take on Haryana in the Group C match. As far as Bengal’s performance is concerned, they team has only registered one win in 5 matches, with 14 points in the kitty.
To go with that, there is no certainty if Mohammed Shami will be playing in the Ranji Trophy as well, that leaves the team in bit of a lurch for now.
