In the past, Teofimo Lopez informed his followers on social media that Ryan Garcia had contacted him a few times, asking to face off against him but Teofimo declined to fight each time.

Both Lopez and Garcia are promising young boxers who, when they reach their physical peak, will be among the best in the sport. The possible bout between the two rising stars was much anticipated by boxing fans. But Lopez is focused on other strong fights and has no intentions of fighting Ryan anytime soon.

Sacred Or Confident? Teofimo Lopez Priortises Other Options Over Ryan Garcia

Lopez is in Las Vegas for the David Benavidez vs. Demetrius Andrade fight. “The Takeover” disclosed to FightHype.com that he was offered the fight against Ryan Garcia, but he turned it down. This was disclosed by him upon his arrival at the venue.

Also according to Michael Benson’s recent post on X, the former platform to Twitter states: Teofimo Lopez asked if he’s going to fight Ryan Garcia in February: “No, I declined the offer.”

After losing to George Kambosos Jr. in his debut fight as a professional boxer and losing the lightweight belt, Teofimo Lopez recovered magnificently. He stepped up to the plate and defeated Josh Taylor in June 2023 to win the light welterweight titles from The Ring and the WBO. He is the current NABF and WBO light welterweight champion.’

Following his victory over Josh Taylor, Teofimo Lopez declared his retirement from competitive athletics. It was a few days later and he was still standing by his position. Many were surprised by his early retirement at the age of 25 since he was hailed as a potential superstar. However, he quickly had second thoughts within the allotted period and chose to hold onto the championship.

In April 2023, Ryan Garcia lost his debut fight as a professional boxer to Gervonta Davis via seventh-round knockout. Teofimo Lopez claims that Garcia messaged him on social media, requesting a fight, but he turned it down, saying Garcia was only “desperate for a payday.”

The fight may not happen anytime soon, but this will not stop Ryan in searching for a strong opponent opposite himself.
