More good news came for India in TRIPLE JUMP. Eldhose Paul became the first Indian to qualify for the triple jump final at the World Championships with an effort of 16.68m here. He finished sixth in Group A qualification round and 12th overall to make the cut for Sunday’s final (6:50am IST).

Men’s 200 M Finals: Gold again for Lyles – Noah Lyles retained his world 200m title and took down Michael Johnson’s US record in the process. He clocked 19.31 to lead yet another medal sweep for the host nation.
The Olympic bronze medallist produced one of his fastest ever bends, covering the first 100m in 10.15.
Compatriots Kenny Bednarek and Erriyon Knighton were second and third coming off the turn, and all three men maintained those positions. The only change in the second half was that Lyles continued pulling away from his opponents.
As he stormed across the finish line, the clock initially read ‘19.32’ – a time that would have equalled Johnson’s national record. But it was soon corrected to 19.31. “My whole mood changed then,” said Lyles.
Bednarek, who has rebounded from a broken toe, took silver in a season’s best, while 18-year-old Knighton claimed bronze in 19.80.
Women 200 M Final – Shericka Jackson WINS GOLD: Shericka Jackson finally won a GOLD at the World Championship. Jackson won 200 M title with Championship Record. Jackson completely outpaced and outshone 100M Winner Shelly-Ann FRASER-PRYCE. Jackson won the race in 21.45 sec.
She earned bronze over 400m in 2015 and 2019. Earlier in the championships she took silver over 100m. Now Shericka Jackson has a full set of World Championship medals spanning three sprint distances after winning the 200m here in Oregon.
She did it in style, too, smashing the championship record with 21.45. That also breaks Elaine Thompson-Herah’s Jamaican record and is the second-fastest time in history behind the long-standing world record of 21.34.
It’s quite the turnaround from the Olympic Games last year where Jackson failed to advance from the first round after easing down too much in her heat.
Here in Oregon, she didn’t put a foot wrong. 100m winner Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce had a slight lead off the bend, but Jackson’s superior speed endurance showed in the second half of the race as she opened up a clear gap on her rivals.
Fraser-Pryce held on to take silver in 21.81 and defending champion Dina Asher-Smith made it on to the podium again, earning bronze with 22.02.

Chopra hurled Javelin to 88.39M in his very 1st throw to made it to the FINALS of the competiton. His colleague Annu Rani made it to the FINALS of Women Javelin on Thursday. If Neeraj Chopra wins a medal at Oregon 2022, he will be only the second Indian athlete to clinch a podium finish at the championships. Anju Bobby George earlier won a bronze in the women’s long jump at Paris in 2003.

Men’s Javelin Throw Qualification
Neeraj Chopra is set to feature in the first qualification (A) alongside Jakub Vadlejch and Keshown Walcott. Gold medal favourite Anderson Peters is featuring in the second qualification (B), which will also include another Indian Rohit Yadav.
The automatic qualifying mark stands at 83.50m or at least the best 12 will reach the final after the completion of both the qualification rounds. The automatic mark should not be a problem for the big guns in the competition. They will take it lightly before flexing their muscles in the all important final.
