Serena Williams vs Ajla Tomljanovic – Match starts 4:30 AM IST (Saturday)

It has been a fairytale run at the US Open for Serena Williams, who is featuring for the last time before retiring from the sport. But, it is evident that she is not done with as her last victory over second seed Annet Kontaveit suggests. It does mean that the American will not face a seeded opponent till the quarterfinals. But her focus on Friday is solely on Tomljanovic.

Serena does not take any opponent lightly, and the same is expected when she comes up against her unseeded Australian opponent.  The player has witnessed Tomljanovic play, which will help her prepare better to survive yet another day in the US Open.

Matteo Berrettini beat Andy Murray 6-4, 6-4, 6-7 (1-7)

A pumped-up Matteo Berrettini made a statement of intent Friday at the US Open, where he held his nerve to battle past former World No. 1 and 2012 champion Andy Murray 6-4, 6-4, 6-7(1), 6-3. The Italian produced a dominant serving display to lay the foundations for his three-hour, 46-minute victory. He struck his aggressive forehand through the court to force Murray back and recovered from a mid-match dip, rallying from a breakdown in the fourth set to reach the fourth round in New York for a fourth consecutive year.

Murray was aiming to reach the fourth round in New York for the first time since 2016, the season he ended as the year-end No. 1 in the Pepperstone ATP Rankings. Berrettini will now face Spain’s Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in Round 4.

Coco Gauff beat Madison Keys 6-2, 6-3

Coco Gauff reaches the second week of the US Open for the FIRST time after beating compatriot Madison Keys in straight sets, as in-form No. 12 seed becomes the youngest to progress to the last 16 in all four Grand Slams since 1998. Coco Gauff has reached the last 16 of the US Open women’s singles as the American star kept her fine form with a straight-sets win over compatriot Madison Keys. The No. 12 seed put the disappointment of crashing out of the doubles competition to one side on Friday afternoon to win 6-2, 6-3 in the third round at Flushing Meadows.

Daniil Medvedev vs Wu Yibing – Match starts 5:45 AM IST (Saturday)

The top seed Daniil Medvedev is expected to cruise into the next round as he meets Wu Yibing in the third round of the US Open. In fact, the Russian is looked upon as one of the favourites for the year’s last grand slam as well. He has not dropped a single set in the first two rounds, and the star player is expected to continue that record when he comes up against Wu. The Chinese is one of the qualifiers, and he should just look to enjoy his game against a top player.

Nick Kyrgios vs JJ Wolf – Match starts 5:45 AM IST (Saturday)

The flashy Australian is one of the most talented players in the ATP circuit. He dropped one set against Benjamin Bonzi in his last game, but has looked in his element in the first two rounds. He comes into the US Open with good form under his belt, hence will be looking to dive deep at the Flushing Meadows. His third-round opponent JJ Wolf has it in him to surprise the Australia. The American has already done that in the opening round, beating Bautista Agut. Can he come up with a repeat show against the Australian?
