Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) made the opening and final bid for the veteran leg-spinner Amit Mishra in the IPL auction. Mishra is the third-highest leading wicket-taker in the IPL.  In 244 T20 matches he played so far in his career, the 40-year-old has picked up 272 wickets at an economy of 7.14. Now, given his record and impact on spin-friendly tracks, Mishra can be a lethal option for the LSG franchise in the upcoming competition.

2. Piyush Chawla (Mumbai Indians)

Veteran leg-spinner Piyush Chawla was sold for Rs 50 lakh to Mumbai Indians in the IPL auction 2023. Chawla is a vastly experienced campaigner in this competition, having been a regular feature since the inaugural edition of the IPL. He has played a total of 165 matches in IPL, in which he has scalped 157 wickets at an average of 27.39 and an economy rate of 7.88 runs per over. Apart from his bowling skills, the 33-year-old has scored 584 runs, which includes a match-winning knock for KKR in the final of IPL 2014.

3. Sikandar Raza (Punjab Kings)

Sikandar Raza was signed by Punjab Kings for Rs. 50 Lakh in the IPL 2023 auction in Kochi on Friday. He became the fourth Zimbabwe player to be signed by an IPL team after Ray Price, Tatenda Taibu and Brandon Taylor.

The Zimbabwe allrounder, who has roots in Punjab, was quite excited at the prospect. “It was part of my thinking that before I hang my boots up, it would be nice to have the IPL on my CV. Alhamdulillah (thank God) it has happened. I am really happy, humble and excited at the same time. I would have [been fine with] any franchise but to have a Punjabi munda in Punjab, it is a great match,” said the 36-year-old.
