- Wanindu Hasaranga (23): The RCB spinner is in 2nd place with 23 wickets from 13 matches.
- Kagiso Rabada (22): The PBKS pacer sits in third place currently with 22 wickets from 12 matches.

Playoffs qualification will play important role in Purple Cap race –
- With RR certain to qualify for the playoffs, Yuzvendra Chahal will have a good opportunity to stamp his authority on the Purple Cap.
- He could still end up playing four more matches including two in the playoffs and the final.
- However, both Rabada and Hasaranga will have a direct battle as only one of those two will make the playoffs as their respective teams fight for the fourth spot.

Rabada picks one wicket against DC – Kagiso Rabada could have overtaken both Hasaranga and Chahal if he had bagged a good haul of wickets against DC, but that was not to be as he picked up the wicket of only Mitchell Marsh in the three overs that he bowled.
