Indian veteran Rohan Bopanna has reached his 4th Men’s Doubles Final of the season after a three-set thriller in Paris Masters 2023. The 43-year-old, along with his partner Matthew Ebden completed a remarkable 3-set comeback (6-7 (3), 6-4, 10-6) over Harri Heliövaara and Mate Pavić after being down a set in the semifinals on Saturday, November 4.

The duo who have won 12 of their last 14 matches, put up a splendid serving display. Bopanna and Ebden won 88% of their first serves points (46/52) and managed to save all three break points they faced to seal the win in the super tiebreaker.

The third-seeded pair have been in incredible form this year, reaching 6 finals. The duo claimed the title in the Qatar Open and Indian Wells but fell short in Rotterdam, Madrid Open, US Open, and Shanghai Masters.

The duo have already qualified for the ATP Finals in Turin and now have a chance to clinch the No. 1 ranking before the Finals start on November 12.

World No. 1 Scenarios for Rohan Bopanna & Matthew Ebden

After the top seeds at the Paris Masters, Ivan Dodig and Austin Krajicek lost to Harri Heliovaara, and Mate Pavic 6-4, 6-4 on Friday, Bopanna and Ebden moved closer to the No. 1 spot. The possibility will become a reality if they win the title.

Meanwhile, Neil Skupski and Wesley Koolhof have an equally good chance to make it to the top of the ATP rankings, as they also made it to the semis of the Paris Masters. If it so happens that Koolhof and Skupski fail to reach the final, and Rohan Bopanna and Ebden win the title, they will be the new World No. 1 team with a cushion of 60 points.
