Haaland was named the Premier League Player of the Season after a voting process, which involves captains of the club, the general public, and a panel of experts. This is the fourth consecutive time that a City player has won the award; Kevin Be Druyne in 2019-22 and in 2021-22 and defender Ruben Dias in season 2020-21. Haaland also won the Young Player of The Season Award this season.
Haaland won the accolade for putting insane numbers this season from the front, 36 goals in 35 Premier League games, which is a record. In his very first season at Manchester City, the Norwegian striker broke the record for the highest number of goals, which was a three-decade-long record held by Andy Cole and Alan Shearer (34 goals in a season). There have been only 12 players to reach 30+ Premier League in a season, Haaland being one of them in the very first season.
The 22 -year old also broke most hat-trick in a Premier League season by scoring 4 hat-tricks, surpassing Sergio Aguero’s 3.
Erling Haaland Announces His Arrival
Many clubs were keen to sign Haaland after he displayed his strength and finishing ability at Borussia Dortmund. He chose Manchester City to join, who paid €60 million to activate his release clause.
