Lalit Yadav is eyeing to become India’s premier all-rounder in the shortest format of the game, T20Is. With Ravindra Jadeja hanging his boots after the T20 World Cup 2024, one spot is up for grabs. The all-rounder who’s played for the Delhi Capitals and is currently leading the Purani Dilli 6 in the Delhi Premier League T20 (DPL) hopes to make his India debut and fill the void left by Jadeja.
Lalit Yadav wants Jadeja’s spot
“Yes, of course, I do see myself in the race for the slot of an all-rounder. To play for India and don its jersey is something that plays on my mind every day; it’s the biggest motivation for me,” Lalit told PTI on August 29.
However, his form hasn’t been great of late. In the inaugural season of the DPL, his performance has been underwhelming. “I am not satisfied with it; I am very hungry for the next few games, and I would count this as an average performance,” he added.

“Naturally, if I perform better people will develop their thought processes and observation. I just pay attention to the things that are within my control and the rest I cannot control there is nothing I can do about that. I learnt new things from this tournament (DPL), like never to give up no matter what, and how to bounce back,” he concluded.
However, the path won’t be easy for Lalit. Axar Patel is already there, and Washington Sundar has been playing in ODIs and T20Is ever since Jadeja’s retirement. His numbers aren’t great, but the 27-year-old still has time to change that.
