IPL 2023: Pakistan captain Babar Azam, who is leading Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2023, has picked the Big Bash League (BBL) over the Indian Premier League (IPL) while comparing the two tournaments. Babar also gave his rationale behind choosing the BBL. ”The conditions over there in Australia are different. The pitches over there are really fast and you get to learn a lot. Whereas in IPL, you get the same Asian conditions,” Babar said.
Babar is yet to feature in the Big Bash League, whereas no Pakistani cricketer has taken part in the IPL after the first season of the tournament, due to political tensions between India and Pakistan. Earlier this month, Babar Azam registerd his name in The Hundred draft for 2023. He has entered the draft with a reserve price of £100,000.
In 9 matches of PSL 2023, Babar has accumulated 416 runs at an average of 52.00. Babar has smashed 1 hundred and 4 fifties. Pakistan Super League 2023 Eliminator will see Islamabad United facing off against Peshawar Zalmi on Thursday, 16 March 2023. Both teams have had their moments in the group stage encounters and will be looking to inch closer to the prized trophy.
Meanwhile, the Indian Premier League is slated to start on March 31 with the defending champions Gujarat Titans taking on the four time champions Chennai Super Kings led by the veteran MS Dhoni. Both teams will be looking to put a stellar show in the opening encounter of IPL 2023.
