IPL 2023: Mark Wood is set to miss the final weeks of the IPL 2023 season due to the birth of his child. The England pacer has been a revelation for the Lucknow Super Giants but will fly back home in the coming weeks to be with his expecting wife. Mark Wood was picked up by the Lucknow Super Giants in the auction last year but missed the entire season due to injury. On his debut this year, he rattled the Delhi Capitals with a spell of 5/14 at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. So far, he has 11 wickets in his four appearances for KL Rahul’s side.

Wood and his wife Sarah are expecting their child by the end of May. While no date has been confirmed, the English star is set to leave in the coming weeks. It is unlikely he returns once reaching in England. LSG are in the running for a berth in the playoffs, with 4 wins in 7 games.

LSG play their next fixture against Punjab Kings on April 28, before back-to-back home matches against Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings on May 1 and 3. Wood is expected to return during the run-in before leaving the camp to fly home. In his absence, Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq has featured, bowling two economical spells in both of his games.
