Bangladesh tour of SA: BCB President slams Shakib Al Hasan – The President of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), Nazmul Hasan Papon has questioned the dedication of Shakib Al Hasan for the national team, a day after the all-rounder distanced himself from the upcoming tour of South Africa citing exhaustion. On Sunday, Shakib Al Hasan pulled out from the South Africa tour, saying he is too exhausted, both mentally and physically, to take part in that series.
“Would he have said the same thing if he was picked in the IPL? Would he have said that he is mentally exhausted? If he not willing to play please tell us but it becomes difficult if he informs us at the last minute, then it becomes a problem. We made the plan for South Africa keeping him in mind and now when he says things it does hamper our planning,” Papon said on Monday, as per quotes in Cricbuzz.

Shakib Al Hasan made himself unavailable for the two-match Test series as he was hopeful of a return to the IPL. But as he was not picked in the IPL 2022 Auction, BCB named him in the Test series only for Shakib to pull out.

Shakib’s antics though didn’t impress BCB who have been left in a spot of bother, trying to find the perfect replacement for the all-rounder.
What did Shakib say? – “As far as I am concerned, the mental and physical condition that I am in right now, it is not possible for me to play international cricket. If I get a break and get back the interest then it will be easy for me to play cricket,” the 34-year-old stated.

He further elaborated “Members of the coaching staff and the team management are not sure what is happening. It is surprising to be honest. I don’t know what he is saying now but his last conversation with me was in Chattogram where he said he would play and that’s all I know.”
The Bangladeshi cricket team will travel to the rainbow nation for a three-match ODI series, the first of which will be played on 18th March. It will then be followed by a two-match Test series.
