Anderson Peters

Without a shadow of doubt, Anderson Peters in the man to beat in the men’s javelin throw. He has consistently thrown over the 90m mark this season. In fact, the best throw of 2022 belongs to Peters at 93.07m, which is the fifth best all-time. It just speaks about his form this year. After picking two gold medals in the Diamond League at Doha and Sweden, both above the 90m mark, it would take something special to snatch the gold away from him.

Jakub Vadlejch

The Czech thrower is looking for his first gold at a big-ticket event. He finished with a silver at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 and World Championships 2017. The 31-year-old Vadlejch has been impressive this year, having thrown the spear 90.88m in May.

Keshorn Walcott

Like Weber, Walcott has also featured in seven competitions. More importantly, he has used his last six events in two months as build up for the Worlds. His best has been 89.07, and the man from Trinidad and Tobago has it in him to go even better at Oregon.

Julian Weber

He has been one of the most active throwers in the season, featuring in seven events. He has only been out of the podium once, showcasing his form. In fact, he became a talking point after an impressive throw of 89.08 in the last event at Sweden. That will give him huge confidence for the Worlds. He has a best of 89.54 this year.

Oliver Helander

He may not have thrown the spear beyond the 90m mark this season, but he is also looked upon as a medal contender for no reason. It was mid-June that Helander managed to throw the spear 89.83, which will give him huge confidence ahead of the competition.
