The Swiss International Games and Broadcast Services (IGBS), the official and exclusive broadcast partner for the Asian Games 2018 in Jakarta and Palembang, will deploy 37 live production units and 13 electronic news gathering (ENG) crews for the comprehensive broadcast coverage of the Games, slated from today (August 18) to September 2.
The Asian Games 2018 Organizing Committee (INASGOC) is targeting to broadcast 38 of the 40 sports (67 disciplines) live, while the ENG crews will cover the non-live events for the daily round-up shows and playouts during the live broadcasts.
The Live Production crews will have from 6-cam to 30-cam production units, based on the sports. This will be separate from the ENG units but will include the beauty cameras to capture the mood at h venues.

The live feed will have the integrated Asain Games 2018 customised graphics.
International Games and Broadcast Services (IGBS) will thus provide full coverage of all the sports in Jakarta and Palembang in HD-SDI 1080i/50 with embedded-stereo sound.
The IGBS has brought together 50 production teams to produce 67 sports and disciplines, 25 of which are produced by Asian crews to provide a fair exposure to all the 45 participating countries.
The main elements that make up the production plan are grouped as “Production at Venues” and the “Production at the International Broadcast Centre (IBC) categories. The Production on Venues will include the basic feed (and integrated feed) while the Production at the IBC will cover the daily and overall Games highlights shows, Games News Updates and the Radio Production.

The transmission for the basic feed will begin five minutes ahead of the start of the individual sports and 10 minutes ahead of the beginning of the team events. The transmission will end or switch to another competition/event three minutes after the completion of the competition.
All the Press briefings at the Main Media Centre (MMC) will be covered mandatorily. However, the coverage of the media conferences or interactions at the venues will be optional and recorded only when possible.
The sports with more than one discipline taking place simultaneously at the same venue will have integrated feeds as are part of the Basic Feed.
During the course of the competition, IGBS will also produce a one-hour daily highlights shows of events taking place from 18 August through to 2 September for international broadcast. Besides, highlights shows of the opening and closing ceremonies, an overall two-hour Overall Highlights show of the entire Games and on 3 September and daily 3- to 5-minutes news capsules will also be produced. The All highlight programmes will also include all the gold medal performances, cultural activities around the Games, a one-hour Daily Highlights show of events taking place from 18 August through to 2 September.

IGBS will also provide radio international sound feeds on request at the venue and will consist of general background effects and ambience, which can be delivered separately to the basic feed (international television sound) signal and will be available both at the venues and the IBC.
IGBS will also produce a series of 28 thematic vignettes with a comprehensive collection of story options capturing the beauty, culture and spirit of Indonesia, along with its people and the Games.
Four vignettes of five-minute duration and 24 clips of 30-second vignettes will be provided to all the regional broadcasters for their programming. The vignette will be ready to air packages with English guide commentary, fully-cleared music and a full post-production script.
Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) director general Husain Al Musallam had last year claimed the 2018 Asian Games will provide broadcasters with “stunning” images.
