IPL 2026: It is still not clear as to what injury Anrich Nortje has suffered, and neither has it been talked about much.

Somehow this update has missed to draw the attention of the fans. In a big blow to already struggling LSG, South African pacer Anrich Nortje is out of IPL 2026. As per a report in the Times of India, the lanky speedster won’t participate further in the tournament due to an injury, revealed bowling coach Bharat Arun.

Another injury in IPL 2026

The latter made the revelation, when asked about hitting the India vs overseas bowlers balance. “Our bowling attack is predominantly Indian. In fact, apart from Anrich Nortje, who was injured and has gone back, we haven’t really had an overseas presence in the bowling group. But this is a very exciting Indian bowling unit, and we have a lot of belief in them,” Arun told TOI.

That also means, Lucknow don’t have an overseas pace-bowling reserve. Earlier, after Wanindu Hasaranga was ruled out due to injury, the LSG management had named South African George Linde as a replacement. It is still not clear, if the team would be looking for replacement for Nortje as well.

The simple reason being, LSG Indian bowling unit has been quite good already. Prince Yadav has picked up 13 wickets in 7 matches, while Mohammed Shami has taken 7. Mohsin Khan has been impressive in the three games he has played, and picked up 4. The likes of M Siddharth and Divesh Rathi have been economical as well.

Such is the competition within the team, that 156 kmph bowler Mayank Yadav has only played one match so far, constantly fighting for a spot in the XI.
