PVL 2023 Highlights: Kolkata Thunderbolts vs Hyderabad Blackhawks : Kolkata Thunderbolts sealed a 4-1 victory against Hyderabad Blackhawks in the Prime Volleyball League 2023. The defending champions have won the first four sets. However they were denied a bonus point as the Blackhawks finally managed to win the fifth set. With the victory, the Thunderbolts have now won two successive matches. The match was played at the Koramangala Indoor Stadium on 8th February 2023, Wednesday. Vinit Kumar stole the show for Kolkata Thunderbolts. He earned a total of 13 points in his team’s 15-13, 15-7, 15-9, 15-12, 8-15 victory. Vinit used his attacking prowess right from the start of the contest and he was well-aided by Cody Caldewell’s support in defence as they kept picking up points against their opponents to clinch the first set.
Hyderabad’s defence continued to stutter in the second set. Ashwal Rai joined Cody Caldwell in the blocks as they ran away with the second set as well. In the must-win third set, the Hyderabad attackers decided to go all-out on attack. However way too many unforced errors didn’t help them in any way. The defending champions closed out the set 15-9 to confirm a win.
Kolkata remained unstoppable as they went on to win the fourth set 15-12. However Hyderabad came back to atleast deny them a binus point with a win in the fifth set.
