With the win, Casper Ruud became the first player from Norway to reach Roland Garros quarterfinals, while Hoger Rune became the first player from Denmark to reach French Open quarterfinals in 63 years.

- Casper Ruud, who missed the Australian Open earlier this year due to an injury, started the year by winning the title at Argentina Open.
- He then finished as runner up at Miami Open, where he went down against Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets.
- He started the clay court season with a second round exit at Monte Carlo Masters. He couldn’t go past the quarterfinal at Barcelona Open and Bavarian International.
- He also made a first round exit at Madrid Open. He reached the semifinals at Italian Open and lost to Novak Djokovic in straight sets.
- He then played the Geneva Open and successfullt defended his title by beating Joao Sousa in the final.

- Seeded no. 8, Ruud started the tournament by playing against Jo-Wilfried Tsongs in what was the Frenchman’s last match of his career. The game stretched for four sets with three sets decided by tie-breakers as Ruud won the match 6-7, 7-6, 6-2, 7-6.
- In the second round he sailed past Emil Ruusuvuori 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 and defeated Lorenzo Sonego 6-2, 6-7, 1-6, 6-4, 6-3 in the third round.
- He met 12th seed Hubert Hurkacz in the fourth round and won the game in four sets to enter his maiden Grand Slam quarterfinal.
