Paris Olympics 2024 Badminton: IOC approves BWF Olympic Qualification Regulations, All you want to know about how players can Qualify for Paris Olympics
- The Paris Olympics 2024 qualification period will kickstart on May 1, 2023 and last till April 28, 2024.
- The final list for Paris Olympics will be released on April 30, 2024 to determine the initial list of qualifiers.
- A total of 86 men & 86 women (172) will be up for grabs. It includes two host country places and four universality places in addition to regular quota places of 166. (2+4+ 166)
- The National Olympic Committee (NOC) will have a maximum quota of eight places (for both men & women)
SINGLES
- NOC has a maximum of two quota places in singles that too if players are ranked under the top 16 on the qualification date for Paris Games 2024.
- There are a total of 35 quota places, one for the host country and two universality places.
- Tripartite Commission will confirm the universality places at the end of the qualification period.
- Both men’s & women’s singles must have at least two athletes from every five continental confederations – only the players under the BWF 250 rank.
DOUBLES
- Unlike Singles, NOC’s maximum quota of two pairs will be booked for only the top 8 ranked duos on the qualification date.
- Both men’s & women’s doubles must have at least one pair from every five continental confederations – only for pairs under BWF 50 rank.
NOTE: Above all, no NOC can qualify athletes/ pairs in over two disciplines via the Continental Representation Place system.
