IPL 2023: England pacer Jofra Archer said that he would like to play the entire season of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Mumbai Indians without any constraints. Archer missed the entire previous season and was out of action for the past 18 months. Earlier this year, the 27-year-old made a comeback in the SA20 league. Archer admitted that he understands if he is unable to play back-to-back games, though. “If I’m told I’m not playing I don’t question it. Usually back-to-back games I don’t even bother to ask because I already know what the answer is,” Archer said.

The Englishman claimed to have forwarded a letter from the Mumbai branch to the medical team in London. Archer’s workload will be closely watched because the five-match Ashes Test series against Australia will put his body to the test once more after a physically demanding IPL season.
Speaking about it he said, “If I can play one game this summer, I’ll be happy. If I play more than one, that’s just a bonus. I haven’t lost an Ashes series as yet, so hopefully, we can keep it that way.”
Archer referred to the most recent Ashes series in 2019, saying, “But nothing but great memories. Probably the best ever Test you’ll ever get to witness, let alone on TV but in person, so, now that summer is probably one of the best summers I’ve had ever.”
It was a 2-2 draw in the series. In the summer, Archer also prevailed in the 50-over World Cup. In order to assist England win their first World Cup, he bowled the vital super over in the match. There probably won’t be many other cricket summers that are greater than that, according to Archer, but perhaps this one will have the chance to top it.
Speaking about his injury worries Archer said, “Obviously, sometimes you’ve still got that little feeling in the back of your mind that you’re still not ready yet, you know. But for me, I just put that behind me and whatever happens, happens. If you’re supposed to get injured again, then there’s nothing you can do about it. But til that time comes I’m just gonna give everything I’ve got. You’re back here again so, you know, you might as well just give it your all,” he added.
He further went on to say, “To be honest, coming back and playing cricket for England again means I have already done what I wanted to do. I said 18 months ago I was going to be back, and now I am back hopefully I have a long career.”
