Who are PBKS’s direct opponents for playoff berth?- PBKS will have to battle out a string of teams to make the playoff with DC, SRH, RCB, RR, and KKR still in reckoning. RCB and RR are in pole position for the playoffs. If PBKS do manage to put a string of results and win their remaining three matches they will stand a chance of qualification.

Scenario 1: Win all three matches (16 points)
- A win in all three matches for PBKS will see them on 16 points.
- If RCB beat GT, PBKS and RCB will be tied on 16 points with the NRR becoming the tie-breaker.
- PBKS winning against RCB, DC and SRH will see the DC and SRH knocked out.
- RCB and RR need to lose at least one of their remaining two matches while one of those team needs a poor net run rate (NRR) than PBKS.
- PBKS need to beat SRH in the head-to-head encounter while SRH need to lose one of their remaining other two matches, which will propel them to 14 points or less.
- KKR and CSK wins will be academic if PBKS win all their three remaining matches

- KKR should lose one of their two matches or should have a worse NRR even if they win their both matches.
Scenario 3: PBKS beat RCB but lose against DC or SRH (14 points)
- If PBKS lose to RCB, Faf du Plessis & Co will be firm favourites to qualify.
- RR should lose both their matches by big margin and have a worse NRR
- SRH should lose at least one more match including PBKS
- PBKS’ win against DC will condemn them to elimination
- KKR should lose one of their two matches or should have a worse NRR even if they win their both matches
