“I’m feeling very happy to be here. I have been playing for this franchise for three years and to come back as a retained player feels a bit delightful. Feels like a senior player. I’m having fun with the same guys again,” added Axar Patel.

Axar has been associated with the Delhi Capitals since 2019 and is an active member of the squad. He had a brilliant season in IPL 2021 where he picked up 15 wickets in just 12 games with a good average of 20.40. The IPL title had eluded the DC team and Patel is eager to win it this time.
“2021 has been one of the dream years for me. The way I have batted and bowled and the way the IPL has been for me along with the comeback to the Indian side and my test debut was an absolute confidence booster for me.”

Axar Patel also spoke high praises on DC head coach Ricky Ponting and is eager to play this season under the Aussie coach. The 28-year-old spinner also shared his thoughts on Rishabh Pant and how close they are.
“We always wait for the moment when Ricky Ponting gives the first speech of the season. He is an authority and when he says something, it feels he has spoken something big and important. His [Ricky’s] speech never changes but it really motivates everyone,” he added.
“I have got used to in playing with Rishabh Pant. I am with him all day long and I know what this guy is capable of doing. He’s the skipper of the team and along with the new faces in the squad, I’m really excited for the upcoming season.”
