Harmanpret Kaur leads India in Women’s Cricket
The Indian Women’s Team will be in action on Friday at Edgbaston as they face Australia in the opening match of their group A encounter. The Indian team has been gearing up for the contest and has all the firepower to succeed. The likes of Smrithi Mandhana, Shafali Varma will be part of the Indian contingent along with Harmanpreet Kaur.
This will be the first time Women’s Cricket is included at the CWG and both teams will be buying for a medal in the first time of asking. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semifinals of the CWG.

Sindhu in action in Mixed team event
PV Sindhu will be in action in Badminton mixed team event as India face Pakistan on Day 1. PV Sindhu will be in action along with Aakarshi Kashyap, Lakshya Sen, Kidambi Srikanth and others as India are the defending champions in the mixed event.
Sindhu will have a big task in hand as India take on Pakistan in the mixed event’s opener on Friday. Sindhu’s main aim for the CWG will be to improve on her 2018 performance where she finished runners-up and only managed to clinch a silver medal.

Can Manika Batra defend her title?
Defending CWG Table tennis champion Manika Batra will also be in action on Friday as she will take in the Women’s Team Event Qualifying Round 1. Manika won Gold medal in the Women’s singles and Women’s Team event along with a silver in Women’s double. She will be hoping for the same performance on an opening day as she eyes a host of medals yet again. She is currently ranked inside the Top 50 in the World.
Manika will be accompanied by Reeth Rishya, Sreeja Akula and Diya Chitale in the Women’s section for the table tennis.

Shiva Thapa- Men’s Lightwelter Round of 32
Shiva Thapa is an experienced Indian boxer. But he has had his fair share of ups and downs. He was one of the main boxers, who failed to punch a Tokyo Olympics tickets. However, that is a thing of the past now. Thapa is determined to deliver goods at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, and is one of the important player in the Indian contingent.

Savita Punia- Women’s Hockey
Goalkeeper Savita Punia, who led India in the Women’s World Cup this year will continue to lead the Indian women in the Commonwealth Games as regular skipper Rani Rampal, is still recovering from injury. Hse played an impoatant role for the Indian side in the Women’s Hocjey World Cup while India made it to the crossover, before losing to Spain.
