What happened when KKR played IPL 2012 Final at the Chepauk Stadium

In the electrifying IPL final of 2012, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) opted to bat after winning the toss. Michael Hussey’s 54 and Murali Vijay’s 42 provided CSK a strong start. Suresh Raina’s explosive knock of 87 off 34 balls, including three fours and five sixes, powered CSK to a formidable total of 190/3.

Facing a target of 191, KKR encountered early setbacks with the loss of captain Gautam Gambhir in the opening over. However, Manvinder Bisla, relatively unknown in the IPL at the time, played a stunning innings of 89 off 48 balls. Jacques Kallis contributed a steady 69 off 49 balls.

With nearly 60 runs needed from the final five overs, Bisla’s dismissal sparked a flurry of wickets, including Yusuf Pathan and Laxmi Ratan Shukla. Despite the pressure, Shakib Al Hasan (11 off 7) and Manoj Tiwary (9 off 3) remained composed. Tiwary’s boundary secured a thrilling five-wicket victory for KKR, securing their maiden IPL title in 2012 at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium.
