About Sam Curran

Samuel Matthew Curran is a well-known English international all-rounder, who plays in all cricket formats. This left-handed batsman, who is eligible to play for South Africa, Zimbabwe, and England, was born on June 3, 1998 in Northamptonshire, England.  Sam earned praises early in his career as his performances for Surrey at the U15, U17, and Secondary XI levels were applauded by England greats. 

Career

Domestic Career

As stated above, Sam Curran has played at the U15, U17 and Secondary XI levels for Surrey. He represented Weybridge in the Surrey Championship Premier Division. Curran made his First Class debut in July 2015 against Kent in County Cricket Championship.  He continued to impress with his performances in domestic cricket. He represented England Under-19s at the 2016 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup where he played all six games, scoring 201 runs and taking seven wickets to help his team finish sixth.

International Career

The allrounder received his first maiden call-up to the English side in January 2018 against New Zealand, however, he didn’t play any Test during the course of the series and warmed the bench. Curran finally made his international debut in a Test match against Pakistan at Headingley, Leeds which commenced on 1 June 2018. 

The left-handed all-rounder has represented England across all three formats of the game. In total he has played 102 matches for the Three Lions so far. 

IPL career

Sam Curran has pla yed 46 matches to date in his IPL career and has scored 613 runs , with an average of 24.52. He has also slammed 3 half-centuries, with his highest IPL score being 55* runs. Sam Curran has hit 50 fours and 31 sixes in his IPL career.In the IPL Auction 2024, the Punjab franchise acquired the services of Sam Curran for Rs 18.50 Crore. He was also retained by the Punjab franchise for the upcoming edition.
