Jasprit Bumrah not confirmed for ICC Champions Trophy? Star pacer to have scans on February 2
Jasprit Bumrah didn't bowl in the second innings of the fifth BGT Test in Sydney.

Despite getting named in India’s squad for the ICC Champions Trophy, we might not see Jasprit Bumrah in action during the mega ICC event. Indian captain Rohit Sharma and BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar recently announced the 15-man squad in Mumbai, including Bumrah in a three-man pace attack that also features Mohammed Shami and Arshdeep Singh. However, Agarkar remained a bit sceptical about Bumrah’s fitness, stating that the BCCI physio and medical team will comment on his fitness status.

Jasprit Bumrah’s future at Champions Trophy to be decided still?

According to the Times of India, Bumrah will undergo scans on February 2. The results of the scans will decide the future of Bumrah considering the fact that he is the most special asset India currently has. He is undoubtedly the best bowler of this generation and India should not put his body at risk. Regardless, the conundrum is that even Shami is returning from an surgery and is yet to make his international come back. Arshdeep Singh, who has been selected over Mohammed Siraj, is still a newbie in ODI cricket.

Agarkar mentioned that Bumrah might not be fit to play the upcoming ODI series against England prior to the ICC Champions Trophy. Due to this, Harshit Rana will feature in the ODIs against England. Bumrah had back spasms during the Border Gavaskar Trophy and even partially missed the all-important Sydney Test. India lost the match without Bumrah, losing the series 3-1. Team India can make changes to their ICC Champions Trophy squad by February 13.
