IND vs AUS Test: Sarfaraz Khan India Selection – Sarfaraz Khan has knocked on the door, banged on the door and even broken it down with Bradman-like First Class Average. But his efforts have only fallen on deaf ears. But the upset Mumbaikar is not giving up. He is taking inspiration from Mumbai teammate Suryakumar Yadav to live with snubs and keep fighting. However, he still expects the selectors to notice his efforts when they pick the team for the last three Tests against Australia. Follow India vs Australia LIVE Updates on InsideSport.IN.

“My time will also come if it’s there in my destiny. He has been my guiding force and I believe his words. Selection is not in my hands. I play cricket for the love of it and will keep doing so. I have learnt to not set targets. I have no expectations since it only leads to disappointments. I focus on hard work and leave it to destiny,” Sarfaraz Khan told The Telegraph.

Sarfaraz is learning to live with disappointments. In Ranji Trophy 2023, despite his average dipping to 92.66 from a staggering 154.66, selectors still believe it’s not his time. Recently, the newly appointed selector from Tamil Nadu, Sridharan Sharath said that the selectors are keeping a tab on his performance and he will be in the reckoning soon.

“He is certainly on our radar. In due course, he will get his due. While picking the team, we have to consider things like composition and balance,” Sharath told Sportstar.

Sarfaraz Khan in First Class Cricket:

  • FC Runs: 3505 in 37 matches
  • Average: 79.65
  • HS: 301*
  • 50/100: 9/13
  • Ranji Trophy 2022-23: 556 runs at 92.66
  • Ranji 2021-22: 928 runs at 154.66
  • Ranji 2020-21: 982 at 122.75

But not at this point. Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill besides Cheteshwar Pujara are ahead of him in the race for middle-order. A change in hands will be possible only after WTC Final in June. But Sarfaraz is not giving up just yet.

“No point. I’ve learnt from Suryakumar Yadav, who faced a similar situation and is now the best T20 cricketer in the world. He never lost hope when the selectors ignored him but became more determined. I speak to Surya regularly and he tells me to wait for the opportunity. Surya inspires me to not stop dreaming. My coach Amol (Muzumdar) Sir has also been a huge source of encouragement,” Sarfaraz said.
