BCCI & PCB fighting again
BCCI is threatening to pull out of the 2025 Asia Cup if the ACC meeting venue isn’t changed from Dhaka. ACC and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi haven’t responded to BCCI after they asked for a venue change and won’t go along with whatever is decided in the meeting. Naqvi also won’t attend the ICC AGM in person, where the Asia Cup matter was going to be discussed between the two boards.
No IND vs PAK means WCL cancelled?
Harbhajan Singh, Yusuf Pathan, and Irfan Pathan have pulled out of the India vs Pakistan match in the WCL 2025 after getting heavy criticism. Irfan and Harbhajan had been very critical of Pakistan during tensions between the nations in May, but were going to face Shahid Afridi, who made inflammatory statements against India. It could very well happen that WCL is cancelled entirely.
T20 World Cup to expand to 32 team
The ICC meeting is underway in Singapore, and there is a chance that the 2028 edition of the T20 World Cup could be expanded to 32 teams. Currently, 20 teams participate in the tournament. The reasoning behind it could be Italy qualifying for the 2026 T20 World Cup or due to the LA28 Olympics, where cricket returns after 128 years.

PCB appoint coach to save money
The PCB appointed Azhar Mahmood as Pakistan’s Test head coach last month. It turns out the move was made not for the betterment of the team but to ensure they don’t have to pay extra money. PCB wished to part ways with Azhar, but as per his contract, they would have to pay him Rs 1.36 crore. So they decided to make him head coach.
Nitish Rana trade between KKR & RR?
It’s trading season. Until a week before the IPL 2026 season, teams can trade players for players or cash. One such cricketer might be Nitish Rana. Having been with KKR from 2018 to 2024 and even leading them in 2023, Nitish was let go. After his first season with RR, he was seen wearing a KKR cap during training for DPL 2025. Is something cooking?
Gaikwad pulls out of County stint
Ruturaj Gaikwad, who was to play in the County Championship for Yorkshire, has pulled out due to personal reasons. The club didn’t mention as to why Gaikwad pulled out. He might still play the One-Day Cup after tending to his personal matters.
