BCB write to ICC
BCB has written another letter to the ICC, detailing their reservations about travelling to India for the T20 World Cup 2026. BCB wrote to ICC after holding discussions with sports ministry advisor Asif Nazrul. The ICC hadn’t publicly responded to BCB’s grievances but sought more information behind their refusal to play in India.

Team India held their second practice session on January 9 at the BCA Stadium. Virat Kohli arrived 2 hours earlier than his teammates. He hit the gym and had an extended batting session. Devajit Saikia, VVS Laxman, Mithun Manhas, and Shiv Sundar Das were all present. Bangladesh wasn’t one of the talking points.

BCB finance committee chairman M Najmul Islam is under scrutiny for labelling Tamim Iqbal as an ‘Indian agent’. The former Bangladesh captain had advised the board to resolve the issue with BCCI via dialogue for the future of Bangladesh cricket. Tamim was defended by current players like Taijul Islam, Mominul Haque and Taskin Ahmed.

Jay Shah has hijacked cricket?
Former BCB general secretary Syed Ashraful Haque has criticised ICC Chairman Jay Shah. Haque claimed that the cricket ecosystem in India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan has been hijacked by people like Shah, who have ‘never even held a cricket bat’. Haque blasted BCB for their refusal to travel to India as well.

Who’ll replace Tilak Varma?
