IPL 2026: KKR is yet to make a formal announcement of their skipper for the upcoming season.

KKR is in a bit of a spot of bother for IPL 2026. The team health doesn’t look great at the moment, with pacer Harshit Rana already ruled out of the season due to an injury. On top of that, one doesn’t really know if Ajinkya Rahane is going to stay the captain of the franchise or not.

Ajinkya Rahane KKR’s skipper for IPL 2026?

There were a few reports, social media chatter, suggesting that Rahane might step down from his role of captain. One can’t really say that for sure, as of now. In fact, on the flipside, there are strong reports coming in, that Rahane will actually continue. According to Mumbai Mirror, the Mumbaikar stays.

“Rahane is the best choice for captaincy considering his vast experience and mix of players at KKR. The franchise has decided that he will continue as captain this season as well,” a source was quoted as saying. Meanwhile, as far as Rahane’s record at KKR is concerned, it is not the best.

In the 13 matches he led the team in, they won only 5. But Rahane’s batting performance was spot on. In the matches he played, he went on to score 390 runs, at an average of 35 and a strike-rate of 147. He also scored three fifties.

As far as the upcoming season goes, bowling will emerge as a major concern for the team. One does not know if Cameron Green will bowl, same with Matheesha Pathirana, Akash Deep and Umran Malik.
