Recently, the Professional Fighters League has emerged as one of the UFC’s major competitors, with many fighters, including big names like Francis Ngannou, departing from Dana White’s company. Ngannou left the UFC earlier this year, and fans are eagerly anticipating his debut inside the PFL octagon. Following the acquisition of Bellator, PFL President Donn Davis has announced that Ngannou will have his first fight in the PFL in 2024, and there is a good chance it will be against Deontay Wilder with special rules. Let’s delve into the details.

PFL President claims Francis Ngannou might face Deontay Wilder in 2024

Recently, PFL acquired Bellator, and Donn Davis discussed this development on the Ariel Helwani chat show. When asked about Francis Ngannou, who recently fought Tyson Fury and climbed to the top 10 WBC rankings, Davis mentioned that there could be a mixed-rules fight between Ngannou and Wilder in the coming year.

As per him, “We (PFL) don’t know other than that he will fight in 2024. We don’t know if it will be in the first or last quarter. But I still think it will be a mixed rules fight and I still think Deontay Wilder is the most likely opponent. That would be unbelievable. I think the second and third options are less compelling so we don’t want to force those options in order to get it in.

Ngannou parted ways with the UFC in January after prolonged talks. Subsequently, the Cameroonian fighter, expressing a desire to compete in boxing, faced Tyson Fury, showcasing an impressive performance. Now, it appears he is ready for another bout, but this time inside the octagon against a former Fury opponent: Deontay Wilder.
