Thomas and Uber Cup: India aim to bounce back from Sudirman Cup – India will look up to the likes of Sai Praneeth, Kidambi Srikanth and Saina Nehwal to make headlines when they begin their campaign at the Thomas and Uber Cup this week. Scheduled for 2020, the biennial event was postponed amidst the coronavirus pandemic and will kick off on October 9. The tournament will be played in Aarhus, Denmark with each match-up featuring a best-of-five format with three singles matches interlaced with two doubles matches.

Indian team has been dealt with a tough draw as they look to bounce back from their exits at the Sudirman Cup. The Thomas Cup has seen India drawn alongside defending champions China, Netherlands and Tahiti. In the Uber Cup, Saina Nehwal and Co. will go up against Thailand, Spain and Scotland. The tournament will see the Indian team competing along with the defending champions China, Thailand and hosts Denmark in Group A.
India will look to pass the group stages, and make a mark in the tournament. All hopes will rest on the likes of Sai Praneeth and Kidambi Srikanth, while Chirag Shetty and Rankireddy Satwiksairaj will be a big medal hope in the doubles. Saina Nehwal will headline the Uber Cup squad, with high hopes from doubles pair Ashwini Ponappaand Sikki Reddy. PV Sindhu, meanwhile will not be featuring having taken a recovery break following her Tokyo Olympics triumph.
