Following her Mixed Doubles title at the Asian Para Games, Archer Sheetal Devi put on a clinical show yet again at the Asian Para Games. The 16-year old, armless shooter scored six successive perfect 10s with her legs to become an individual champion in the continental event on Friday, 27th October. She defeated Singapore’s Alim Nur 144-142 in a thrilling final. This is her second gold medal in this edition of the multi-sport event.

Alim Nur started off the contest with a 29-28 lead after the first series. The Singaporean continued to maintain the lead and enjoyed a three-point cushion after the conclusion of the first three sets.
With two more sets remaining, Sheetal showed great composure. She scored back-to-back 10s to score perfect 30 in the next two sets. Alim Nur succumbed to the pressure as she managed only 28 and 27 in the next two sets and handed over a 144-142 victory to the Indian.
It is to be noted that Sheetal is the only armless archer across all categories at the Asian Para Games this edition. She uses only her feet to hold the bow and shoot.

Sheetal Devi wins third medal in Asian Para Games 2023
Earlier in the day, Sheetal defeated her compatriot Sarita in the semifinal. The 16-year old edged past her opponent 143-142 in a close contest to make it to the finals in her maiden appearance at the Asian Para Games.
With this gold, Sheetal has grabbed her third medal in this edition of the Asian Para Games. On Wednesday, she won a silver in Women’s Doubles alongside Sarita. The next day, she paired up with Rakesh Kumar in the Mixed Doubles Open event. The duo went on to clinch the gold medal.
